North Atlantic is headquartered in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Dating back to 1986, the company has been an industry leader for nearly 40 years, and a trusted partner in an entire province.
The refinery was commissioned in 1973 and was converted to renewable energy in 2024.
North Atlantic became one of the most-reliable refineries in North America and established several records for safety and environmental performance in Atlantic Canada.
Located on Newfoundland’s Avalon Peninsula, the Green Energy Hub will leverage North Atlantic’s infrastructure and expertise to produce 3 GW of wind-powered green hydrogen. Using top-tier onshore wind resources, it will generate and export low-cost hydrogen and derivatives. The Hub will serve as a centralize base for manufacturing, construction, operations, and maintenance, with facilities for wind power, green hydrogen, ammonia, and liquid hydrogen carriers.
